Personnel

Ana Sieber, CEO

Ana is a native Spanish speaker and is fully bilingual and bicultural having lived in the USA since 1974. She majored in Anthropology at Buenos Aires University (Argentina). She has also completed coursework in English, Portuguese, Italian, and French. Ana received an English to Spanish Translation Certificate from UNESCO as well as a Certificate in Spanish Normative Grammar from the Bank of Boston, Indiana University-Purdue University English Grammar Certificate, Diploma di Merito in Italiano (Italian Language Course), and Dean Vaughn Learning System Applied to Medical Terminology. She has been a member of the American Translators Association since 1982. Prior to establishing The Spanish Connection in 1985, Ana worked for Lincoln National Life Insurance Co., International Department as a Translator/Interpreter and for the International Baseball Association as a Translator/Interpreter and Executive Assistant.

Ana has been engaged in the Hispanic community and civic projects including The Eiteljorg Museum Hispanic Council, Member of Marion County First Steps Common Ground Committee, Founder and Cultural Liaison of the Argentine Association of Indiana. Ana has also participated and assisted in outreach and education events and conferences focusing on Hispanic culture, education and health care.

Jim Sieber, Principal Associate

Jim is fully bilingual and bicultural. He is a United States native and grew up and lived twenty five years in South America. Jim has also been engaged in the Hispanic community of Indiana within the private, governmental and non-profit arenas for twenty two years. He has maintained a lifetime connection to the language and Latino culture.

Joining The Spanish Connection as a Principal Associate in 2001, Jim brings to the company his language, outreach, marketing, and managerial skills.

Jim has a BA in Sociology from Eastern Mennonite University. His work-related experience includes nine years at Rural Opportunities, Inc. (a national Hispanic governed non-profit organization) where he opened and managed the Indiana Housing office. This office developed migrant housing and Hispanic homeownership programs and provided capacity building and housing development technical assistance. He was instrumental in implementing the first Migrant Housing and Hispanic Homeownership Programs in Indiana.

Jim also worked ten years for the State of Indiana in the Quality Control and Public Assistance Division providing Hispanic bilingual services. Additional involvement in the Indiana Hispanic community includes: Founder and Director of Club Deportivo Latino (a sports club for Hispanic children), member of the Indianapolis Mayor’s Hispanic Task Force, Founder and President of the Argentine Association, Board Member of the Hispanic Center and Member of the Governors Task Force on Migrant Affairs.
